Wanjigi names lawyer Willis Otieno as running mate

Jimi Wanjigi, a businessman, has announced Willis Otieno, the former head of Raila Odinga's presidential campaign, as his presidential running mate come August elections.

He believes Otieno's commitment to social-economic rights, community empowerment, and long political experience are significant assets.

“I unveil my wonderful running mate, a great son of this soil, a great young man, a diligent professional and a great friend, my young brother Willis Otieno,” Wanjigi said.

Mr Wanjigi, who backed Mr Odinga's presidential bid in 2017, said he and Mr Otieno were now looking for the country's leadership to fulfill a commitment made at the time.

Wanjigi scoffed at the two-horse race storyline, cautioning competitors not to take him lightly.

"This election is not about tribal formations or about those who have been disenfranchised or those who are not, digital or analogue; it is about a change of an order," he stated

Otieno is from Masumbi village in Ng'iya, Alego Usonga constituency, which is in Raila's neighborhood in Siaya county.

“I fearlessly and courageously accept the nomination to be the running mate of Jimi Wanjigi.” Otieno stated.

Otieno lamented that Kenyans now face greater issues than they did when the Jubilee administration took over the government ten years ago.

"We will be seeking the votes of Kenyans who have suffered in the last 10 years but not those who have enjoyed life in the last decade," Otieno said.
