Michael Gumo withdraws his bid for Westlands MP in favor of Tim Wanyonyi.

According to Azimio la Umoja Secretary General Junet Mohammed, the decision was reached after negotiations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

"We had consultations chaired by Odinga and Michael Gumo has accepted to step down in favor of Wanyonyi. The matter has now been sorted those waiting for a fallout should know today is a good Sunday belonging to the Lord," Junet Mohammed stated.

"Those who wanted a big fallout just know that we have sorted all this out and we will make sure that this seat will be maintained by ODM," he added.

Junet denied rumors being circulated that ODM had zoned areas, saying that all candidates have been given the freedom to run for any seats they want, but that if zoning is required, it will be done smoothly.

Gumo had gone to court to dispute ODM's nomination of Wanyonyi, and the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) had declared his nomination null and void issuing orders for ODM to conduct new nominations within three days.

Wanyonyi had run for the Nairobi governorship but withdrew out in favor of Polycarp Igathe then went back to Westlands where he will be against Nelson Havi, UDA's opponent.
